I’ve posted three new songs I recorded in the early noughties – Panda Eyes (2001), Gong Song (2002) and Don’t Look Back (2003).
Panda Eyes (2001) was part of the same four-track EP that included Fallen Snow and two other songs I’ll get around to posting some day. It’s a wistful, wintry song about a girl with a lot on her mind.
Gong Song (2002) is about looking back at an affair you knew would never last and know you can’t return to, but wanting to all the same. It’s personally very reminiscent of the tail end of my student days – destitute, dissolute and generally depressed. Like the relationship in this song, the party was definitely over but part of me still didn’t want to leave.
Appropriately enough, Don’t Look Back (2003) is a self-directed plea to stop mooning about, live in the now and generally carpe the proverbial diem.
