These Blues (2003)

An anti-blues about the restorative, transformative, change-your-whole-perspective effect that one person can have on another. Simple to write, simple to play and very simply recorded, this is probably the most popular, most requested song I’ve written.
These blues don’t suit me like they used to do
Since I met you
These blues don’t suit me like they used to since I met you
Since I met you

I woke up this morning
A-feeling fine
The only thing that’s worrying me
Is how I’m gonna make you mine

These shoes had been walking down the road a while
Before I met you
These shoes might not have made another mile
Before I met you

I thought I knew all there was to know
But I knew nothing
I thought I’d seen everything
I guess I was bluffing

These blues don’t suit me like they used to do
Since I met you
These blues don’t suit me like they used to since I met you
Since I met you

Now people ask me who I am
When they see me leaving your place
They think I’m a stranger
‘Cos they’ve never seen a smile on my face

These blues were with me all the time
Before I met you
These blues were always on my mind before I met you
Before I met you

I thought I knew all there was to know
But I knew nothing
I thought I’d seen everything
I guess I was bluffing
